The W3C standards are not 100%, however, there is an emperical reason that they should be adhered to in designing your business web site. New technologies are being implemented as the W.W.W. ages. Generally, applying these technologies to an existing web site that is validated is much, much easier then if it is not validated. And easier is much, much less expensive. It's a win-win for you, your business, and your business web site. Furthermore, following standards typically forces the web designer to practice good design.
